John Ensign’s decision not to seek re-election has made next year’s U.S. Senate race in Nevada a free-for-all.
On the Republican side, Congressman Dean Heller would only say he wished Ensign and his wife Lynne “the very best.” Heller is expected to enter the race.
Among Democrats, Congresswoman Shelley Berkley has not yet said whether she will run for Senate, but says if she does, “I’ll run on my record.”
National party leaders are expected to make Nevada’s race a priority in 2012, no matter who wins in the primary elections.
